About Mojere

Mojere is a multicultural marketplace connecting people across Canada and the UK with service providers who understand their culture, language and needs.

From hair braiders and caterers to photographers, accountants, event planners and other professionals, Mojere makes it easier for people to discover, connect with and book the right service providers within their communities.

We believe finding a good service provider shouldn’t depend on knowing the right person, scrolling endlessly through social media or asking the same questions in multiple community groups.

We are building a platform that helps people find the services they need while giving independent businesses greater visibility and access to new customers.

We are looking for a creative, commercially minded and proactive Social Media & Community Growth Manager to help us build Mojere’s online presence, grow our community and turn social media attention into measurable business growth.

This is an opportunity to join an early-stage startup where your ideas, creativity and execution will directly influence how the brand grows.

About the Role

You will take ownership of Mojere’s social media strategy and day-to-day execution across our key platforms, with a particular focus on Instagram, TikTok and Facebook, supported by LinkedIn where relevant.

We are not looking for someone who simply creates graphics and schedules posts. We need someone who understands how to build a brand, create content people want to engage with, grow an audience organically and convert that audience into customers and marketplace vendors.

You will help us tell the stories of the people behind the businesses, connect with multicultural communities, communicate the value of Mojere and develop creative campaigns that encourage both customers and service providers to join the platform.

You should be comfortable working independently, experimenting with content, identifying growth opportunities and making recommendations without waiting for instructions.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

1. Social Media Strategy & Brand Growth

  • Develop and execute a social media strategy aligned with Mojere’s business and growth objectives.
  • Research our target audiences, competitors, community trends and relevant conversations.
  • Establish clear content pillars, platform strategies and publishing schedules.
  • Develop strategies to grow awareness, reach, engagement, website traffic and platform registrations.
  • Identify opportunities for collaborations, community partnerships, influencer marketing and organic distribution.
  • Help establish a consistent, recognisable brand voice across our social channels.
  • Test new ideas and formats, learn from performance and continuously improve our approach.

2. Content Planning & Creation

Take ownership of planning and creating engaging content that makes Mojere relatable, useful and memorable.

Content may include:

  • Short-form videos, Instagram Reels and TikToks.
  • Educational content showing people how to discover and connect with service providers through Mojere.
  • Vendor spotlights featuring entrepreneurs, their services and their stories.
  • Customer-focused content addressing the everyday challenges of finding reliable, culturally relevant services.
  • Relatable newcomer, diaspora and multicultural community content.
  • Behind-the-scenes content about building Mojere as a startup.
  • Founder-led content that communicates our mission, vision and progress.
  • Product demonstrations, platform walkthroughs and feature announcements.
  • User testimonials, vendor success stories and community stories, where available and with permission.
  • Trends, cultural moments, seasonal campaigns and relevant conversations.
  • Promotional campaigns encouraging customers to explore Mojere and vendors to create their profiles.

You should be able to turn an idea into a finished piece of content, including writing the hook and caption, creating the graphic or editing the video, adding a clear call to action and preparing it for publication.

You should also be able to identify when we need founder-led content, vendor interviews or customer stories and provide clear instructions on what to record, how to record it and how it will be used.

3. Vendor Acquisition & Marketplace Growth

An important part of this role is helping Mojere attract businesses to the platform.

You will:

  • Develop content and campaigns that encourage independent service providers to list their businesses on Mojere.
  • Communicate the benefits of joining, including online visibility, business profiles and opportunities to connect with potential customers.
  • Create vendor onboarding content, tutorials and FAQs that make getting started straightforward.
  • Identify and engage relevant businesses across social media and local business communities.
  • Develop vendor spotlight and featured-business campaigns.
  • Support outreach initiatives, community partnerships and vendor recruitment campaigns.
  • Identify ways to turn interested business owners into registered vendors.
  • Gather feedback and recurring questions from potential vendors and recommend improvements to our messaging.

We want someone who understands that social media can support business acquisition, not just brand awareness.

4. Customer Acquisition & Community Engagement

Help prospective customers understand why Mojere exists, how it works and why it is useful to them.

You will:

  • Create content that helps customers discover relevant services in their cities and communities.
  • Show people how to search, compare profiles, contact vendors and explore booking options.
  • Engage with relevant conversations and communities in a thoughtful, non-spammy way.
  • Respond to comments and direct messages or coordinate responses with the appropriate team member.
  • Encourage meaningful conversations, shares, saves, referrals and user-generated content.
  • Identify common customer needs and use those insights to develop new content.
  • Help build relationships with community organisations, creators and potential brand partners.

5. Social Media Management & Execution

  • Manage Mojere’s day-to-day social media presence.
  • Create and maintain a content calendar.
  • Write captions, hooks, calls to action and other social copy.
  • Design branded graphics and edit short-form videos.
  • Schedule and publish content consistently.
  • Maintain a cohesive visual identity and brand voice.
  • Repurpose content appropriately across platforms.
  • Monitor comments, messages, mentions and relevant conversations.
  • Organise content assets and maintain a reliable publishing workflow.
  • Keep the founder informed of upcoming content, required inputs and campaign progress.

6. Campaigns, Partnerships & Brand Awareness

  • Develop creative campaigns around vendor recruitment, customer acquisition and marketplace awareness.
  • Identify relevant creators, community pages, local organisations and potential partners.
  • Propose collaborations that introduce Mojere to new audiences.
  • Support vendor features, community campaigns, referral initiatives and promotional activities.
  • Explore opportunities to participate in relevant cultural events, business communities and newcomer networks.
  • Help develop campaigns that encourage people to share Mojere with friends, family and their wider communities.

7. Analytics, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

Track performance and use data to guide decisions.

You will monitor relevant metrics, including:

  • Follower growth and audience quality.
  • Reach, impressions, views and watch time.
  • Engagement, shares, saves and comments.
  • Profile visits and link clicks.
  • Website visits and traffic sources.
  • Vendor registration activity and customer acquisition, where measurable.
  • Customer enquiries and bookings attributable to social media, where tracking is available.
  • Performance of individual content pieces and campaigns.

You should be able to explain what is working, what is not, what you have learned and what you recommend we change.

We value meaningful business outcomes over vanity metrics. A smaller, relevant audience that joins and uses Mojere is more valuable than a large audience that never takes action.

Who We’re Looking For

You may be a strong fit if you:

  • Have demonstrable experience managing social media accounts for businesses, startups, personal brands or community-focused organisations.
  • Can share examples of content you have created and accounts you have managed or grown.
  • Understand Instagram, TikTok and Facebook, including short-form video and organic growth.
  • Have strong copywriting, storytelling and creative communication skills.
  • Can create polished graphics using Canva and edit videos using tools such as CapCut or equivalent.
  • Understand content strategy, audience research, social media analytics and campaign execution.
  • Know how to create content that informs, entertains, builds trust and encourages action.
  • Can adapt messaging for different audiences, platforms and cultural contexts.
  • Are comfortable working with a founder and translating ideas into practical content.
  • Are proactive, resourceful, organised and comfortable working independently.
  • Can manage competing priorities and meet deadlines without constant supervision.
  • Are commercially minded and understand how social media supports customer and vendor acquisition.
  • Are willing to experiment, learn quickly and work through the uncertainty of an early-stage startup.

Experience with marketplaces, technology startups, small businesses, community platforms, multicultural brands or consumer-facing digital products is an advantage.

Experience with tools such as Canva, CapCut, Meta Business Suite, TikTok analytics, scheduling platforms and project management tools is also beneficial.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role is not defined by posting every day or gaining followers alone.

We want to see progress towards:

  • A consistent, recognisable Mojere brand across social platforms.
  • Increased awareness and discovery among relevant communities.
  • More businesses discovering Mojere and registering as vendors.
  • More customers visiting the platform and exploring available services.
  • Higher engagement with content that resonates with our target audiences.
  • Stronger relationships with vendors, creators and community partners.
  • A growing library of useful, reusable and high-performing content.
  • Clear reporting that connects social media activity to business objectives.

You will work with the founder to establish realistic baseline metrics, set targets and review progress regularly.

Working Style

Mojere is an early-stage startup, so we value ownership, initiative and practical execution.

You should be able to:

  • Develop a plan and communicate it clearly.
  • Bring ideas to the table and explain why they are worth testing.
  • Execute content from concept to publication.
  • Tell us what information, access or input you need.
  • Identify growth opportunities without waiting to be prompted.
  • Work within an agreed budget and prioritise high-impact, cost-effective activities.
  • Communicate progress, challenges and recommendations clearly.
  • Balance creativity with consistency, experimentation and measurable results.

You will work closely with the founder and other team members, with room to shape how Mojere communicates with its audience as the business grows.
