Boilerplate

Mojere is a multicultural vendor marketplace for Canada and the United Kingdom. The platform helps immigrant and diaspora communities (African, Caribbean, South Asian, Filipino, Chinese, Latin American, Middle Eastern, and others) discover culturally relevant service providers (hair braiders, caterers, tax accountants, immigration consultants, barbers, tailors, real estate agents, and more) who already understand their language, background, and needs. Vendors list free and can upgrade to paid tiers for added visibility, analytics, and booking tools. Mojere takes no commission on bookings. Based in Canada, founded in 2024.

Founder

Samuel Omiwole
Founder & CEO, Mojere

Canadian entrepreneur building a marketplace for immigrant and diaspora communities. Mojere emerged from the observation that the real job immigrants are solving when they seek culturally specific services is not discovery — it’s the avoidance of having to explain themselves.

“The braid is the transaction. The relief of not having to translate yourself, your hair, or your culture to the person in the chair — that’s the product. That’s what Mojere sells.”

Story angles

If you’re looking for a fresh angle, here are three frames that have worked for journalists covering Mojere. Happy to customize data cuts or connect you with vendors for interviews.

Angle 01

The invisible diaspora service economy

Most African, Filipino, Caribbean, and South Asian service vendors in Canada operate home-based and don’t appear on Google, Yelp, or any major directory. We can provide aggregated data (no PII) on service demand by community, city, and category — the first public look at this economy’s shape.

Angle 02

Ghost consultants, fake halal, and the trust economy

Immigrant communities lose millions every year to unlicensed immigration consultants, fraudulently labeled halal food, and unverified vendors. We can talk about how community-verified marketplaces change this dynamic, and connect you with affected users willing to tell their story on the record.

Angle 03

Vendor profile: the entrepreneurs reshaping their community’s service scene

Individual vendor stories — the Nigerian braider who runs a three-month-booked home salon in Scarborough, the Syrian caterer rebuilding a wedding business in Mississauga, the Tamil immigration consultant who started after being burned by one herself. We can make introductions to vendors who’ve opted in to press.
